Patient Care Assistant (PCA)
Description
We are currently seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team. The PCA will assist patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing assistant care to patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment for the patient.
Patient care assistants provide basic care services to patients in a medical facility or a private residence under a nurse’s supervision. The patient care assistant aides both the nurse and the patient in completing daily tasks. In this career, your duties include checking vitals, helping with walking and bathing, collecting lab specimens, and charting changes in behavior, mood, or physical health. You help patients with basic needs like feeding and personal care as necessary. You do not provide medical care, but you do work directly with patients.
Requirements
Responsibilities include...
- Ensure clients receive their medication on time
- Support clients who can't move on their own
- Help clients dress, bathe, eat etc.
- Assist clients with physical therapy exercises
- Cook meals according to the clients' restrictions
- Help clients with their shopping
- Do necessary housekeeping to maintain a clean environment
- Provide emotional support
- Inform physicians or supervisors about uncommon events
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
